Fourteen Months; Great-grandparents

Hi everyone -

Well, it feels like spring is finally coming to New Haven. It has been raining forever, but the first flowers have bloomed, so we have hope. Lots going on lately. Last weekend we travelled to Roanoke VA to visit Matt's aunt and uncles and Iris's great-grandparents. Iris had a great time crawling around the dining room in their retirement home, charming all of the ladies.

Matt has had a bit of a reprieve from his teaching schedule, as Yale students are on spring break for two weeks. Grandma Kathryn Jensen came to visit this weekend and helped us reorganize our furniture and watched Iris while Matt and I got to go on a date!

While in Virgina, Iris finally took an interest in walking. She now loves to hold onto our fingers for balance as she walks all over the place. She's obsessed. She can even manage holding on with just one hand! Just yesterday she mastered coming DOWN the stairs, a nice addition to going up. :)

Here are a few photos. More on flickr, as usual (just click on the link to the right). Happy March!

Videos

I have tons of funny video on my computer, but it takes forever to upload from home (slow internet connection). So, instead, I am sharing some video generously posted by Matt M from our recent fmaily trip to Braintree:

Iris and the Bottle Cap from Matt McKeon on Vimeo.

Iris reacquaints herself with the Bumbo from Matt McKeon on Vimeo.

Iris Climbs the Stairs from Matt McKeon on Vimeo.

Iris has finally made it to 20 lbs! A milestone her vice-cousin Aida passed at, what, 5 months?? What else?
- She has just started stacking blocks, which is an exciting addition to the much-used skill of knocking blocks over.
- She climbs the stairs at any opportunity.
- She loves to say "uh-oh"
- Especially after she has just intentionally dropped food on the floor . . . this is where true parenting starts to kick in, I guess - so young and already pushing our buttons
- We're off to Roanoke VA this coming weekend to visit one set of great-grandparents!
