Winter and Winter and Winter

It's the end of February and, as usual, it feels like winter has been going on forever. We've had quite a lot of snow and very low temperatures this winter. More snow expected next week. Lucky for us, we'll be in Florida! I figured I'd better get photos from Thanksgiving and Christmas up before we leave for a Spring Break trip!

So, November photos are here. Highlights include our trip to visit Aunt Laura in Chestertown, MD and Thanksgiving with Grandma and Bill in Western MA.

January photos are here. The main highlight in January, of course, was Iris's birthday on the 9th. It's hard to believe we have a FIVE year old. Aunt Laura made an amazing layer cake with Strawberry icing, per the birthday girl's request. Iris has decided she no longer likes chocolate. I really don't understand it, but it does mean more for me!

A couple of February shots here. And, of course, we can't wait to start March off in warmer climes. We will be going to St. Augustine and Orlando with JJ and D-Dad next week. We're all very excited.

Let's see - what's new to report on? Hazel switched day-cares, and now attends the Northeastern pre-school along with Iris. It's hard to believe our baby is old enough to be in pre-school! She's doing wonderfully, and the transition was not too bad at all. Most days, the four of us take the commuter train in together. It is definitely a bit of a slog; Hazel at 2 years 9 months is a pretty slow walker; but we're getting used to it. We love not being dependent on the car, especially with all the snowy, icy, slushy, yucky weather we've had.

We've applied for Iris to go to kindergarten in the Boston Public School system this fall. We will hear later this month which school she will go to. We have a couple of good neighborhood schools, so we're double-crossing our fingers . . .

Both girls are thriving - they're bundles of energy and insanity - careening from unbelievably sweet and loving to mind-numbingly annoying within minutes. So it goes. When they're not bickering over toys (so, like 5% of the time), they get along really well.

No promises, but I'll try to get the next post up a little sooner next time . . .
