Iris just had her two year appointment (delayed due to the snow). All good news - she is solidly in the 50th percentile for height and weight. There's a train set in the waiting area at the pediatrician's, and she could not wait to be done with the doctor to go and play with the trains. I think we stayed a good half hour after her appointment . . .
She's talking more and more - it's fascinating to hear new things come out of her mouth and see her be able to communicate more complex thoughts and observations. As you can see in one of the videos, she's gotten good at counting. She can go up to about thirteen, although she consistently skips the number 8. She still refers to counting as "three four three four" her favorite numbers.
She's discovered trains and really likes them. She especially likes purple trains and we let her watch Thomas the Train on youtube now and then. She also really likes babies and would watch the documentary movie "Babies" on repeat, if we let her, which we don't.
Iris seems to understand, at some level, that there's a baby in Mama's belly and that she's going to be a big sister. We've been reading lots of books about bringing home new babies. We'll see . . .
On that front, Gwyneth is just finishing up the second trimester - so about three months to go! That happened fast . . . the baby is very active and kicking all the time.
