Iris: Something has clicked in her brain and she is suddenly interested in making up stories. It's fascinating. She likes us to take turns making up short stories. Hers usually go something like this: "Once upon a time there was a little big girl name Iris. She was walking to Tiny Tots (her daycare) when suddenly there was a monster. The end." They generally involve monsters and often elephants. After Mommy or Daddy has told a story, she'll adapt it and re-tell it in her own voice. It's fascinating to see what random stuff she comes up with.
Iris is very excited for Easter. Mostly for the expectation of candy, as far as I can tell.
She is doing well at her day-care and making friends. She will be switching day-cares in July to start at the pre-school at Northeastern. It's a great benefit of Matt working there and we're excited for her to join that program full-time. Matt and Iris will commute together on the purple train!
Iris also had fun with April Fool's Day. One of her slightly older daycare friends introduced her to the concept. According to them, the basic idea was to say something obviously untrue, immediately followed by "April Fools." As in "A crocodile ate you for lunch. April Fools." [hilarious laughter]. For example:
On to Hazel. She is just about 11 months, which is pretty hard to imagine. She's crawling all over the place now and just starting to pull up to standing (still pretty wobbly). She managed to crawl up two steps at the playground this week, practically giving her Mama a heart attack. It's getting harder to keep an eye on both of them at the same time. . .
She's still her jolly chubby self. She definitely wants to get in on the playing action with Iris. It's hard - by the time she catches up, Iris is already on to the next thing. On the other hand, Iris is often generous with her and helps her out. For example:
