Hazel:
- learned her first 'word': Uh oh. She says it a lot. Usually when throwing something on the floor
- finally learned the sign for 'more,' which we've been encouraging her to use for a while now. Appropriately uses it to ask for more food or a particular toy. Very useful.
- loves giving hugs. It is so sweet. She has reached a phase where she hugs all the babies and animals in books and loves giving hugs to real people too. There's nothing sweeter than watching Iris and Hazel hug each other. Mommy and Daddy also like getting Hazel hugs.
- Has learned to do high-five and low-five
Iris:
- is such a confident little girl. It's amazing how much she has changed in the last year. She now regularly makes impromptu friends at the playground and easily chats up grown-up friends that come over, usually inviting them to play with her. She used to be so shy - it's a lovely transformation. She sometimes veers too far in the other direction (being bossy), but it's not too bad.
- writes her own name! Okay, so the S is a work in progress, but the rest is on the mark.
- finally fully potty-trained during the day. Yay! She still insists on wearing a diaper at night, but it's almost always dry in the morning - so it's just a question of when she decides to abandon that last vestige of her baby-hood.
- this is her last week of her pre-school. She'll be starting at the Northeastern pre-school in July, near Daddy's work. More transitions!
We'll be taking the next two weeks off for some vacation. July will bring many changes. Iris starts her new pre-school full-time. Hazel starts day-care for the first time ever. In the toddler room, no less! And Gwyneth will be back to work, doing some short-term work for the Harvard Procurement department.
Last weekend we went strawberry picking. In addition to strawberries, the farm had animals which the girls loved. Iris seems to have finally overcome her fear of farm animals and even rode a pony! We also ate lots of strawberries.
Here are photos from June adventures.
