When Matt or I are hanging out with Iris in the afternoons and Iris asks where Mama or Daddy is, we generally respond with "Mama's working" "Daddy's at work." Iris, happily, doesn't understand what 'work' is, but it's become apparent that she has interpreted it as where people are when they're not here. My parents came to visit for a few days and when they left, Iris announced that they were at work.
This morning, she took Hunny Bunny (one of her favorite loveys) and placed her behind the curtain in her room. 'Where's Hunny Bunny?' I asked, thinking this was a variant of peek-a-boo, but Iris responded 'work' and left her there for a while . . .
